Born from the womb of a hanged woman

hip-hop-hipster:

Mos Def gives us a little bit of a history lession on his song Hip-Hop from Black on Both Sides. Mos is ususally an easy calm flower but on this track he turns it up all the way:

“The more emotion I put into it the harder I rock”

Those lines are from Time’s Up by O.C which is one of a few samples used on the track but it definitely got the point across. I love the fact that  Mos Def can get a message across without seeming too preachy as he does in this song.

check this track out because again my words do not do it justice. Also listen to the whole album. One of the best!
